This month the Sankey’s Corner library in Burntwood becomes the venue for regular police ‘surgeries’ to help people get to know their local police officers, pick up advice and raise any community issues.
Neighbourhood officer, PCSO Tim Hughes, says people can also share a ‘cuppa with a copper’ when they turn up to the library on Sankey’s Corner on Saturday, 15 August between 2pm and 3pm. “I’m new to the Burntwood area and am keen to meet local people and get to know the local issues which may concern them,” explained PCSO Hughes. “Surgeries are a chance for local residents to meet neighbourhood officers like myself and discuss any community concerns as well as picking up advice on crime reduction.” PCSO Hughes, and his neighbourhood police colleagues, will also be joining local councillors at their monthly surgeries at the library - again to enable local people to keep in touch. The local councillor surgeries are held on the first Saturday of each month at the library and police will be available to discuss any issues following the surgeries from 11am. “We work very closely with community partners and, very often, issues raised by residents can be resolved by one or more of the community partners such as the local council or a housing provider,” added PCSO Hughes. Regular police surgeries and similar meetings are part of a commitment by Trent Valley police to give local people a voice and encourage them to get to know their local neighbourhood officers. People can find their neighbourhood officer’s name, ’phone and e-mail details by visiting their local police station or calling the force on 0300 123 4455. |
