Went to see The Scholars play Port Vale FC, the team Chasetown beat in the Second Round of the FA cup last season.

The match was part of the deal in which Port Vale bought 2 of Chasetown's players: Chris Slater and Kyle Perry, after seeing them in the FA Cup match.

Chasetown held their own quite well, losing just 1 - 0 but certainly not looking significantly worse than the bigger, full time opposition.

chasetown
Burntwood's most successful football team, Chasetown FC - aka The Scholars, has announced its fixture listing for the 2008 / 2009 season.

Like all leagues at this level, many of the games may be subject to change nearer the time so be sure to check The Scholar's website regularly.

Chasetown had an incredibly successful FA cup run last year getting all the way through to Third Round before losing to the Championship's Cardiff City. On the way they beat League 1 team Port Vale.

Before the start of the season on 16 August 2008, Chasetown play friendly matches against both Port Vale, at home on 26 July, and Cardiff, again at home on Tue 5th August.

This year's first FA Cup match is a home fixture against Carlton Town on 30 August.

Unfortunately, club success has meant that a number of the clubs players have been poached by bigger teams.
